The Psalms verse was written years after this historical moment, but it definitely fits this hopeless time for Samson. Turned in by his own, completely alone, and tied up like an offering, I firmly believe he saw no way out of this. But God had other plans, and thank God He does that for us, too.

A Dull Bone Surrounded by Sharp Iron
In the aftermath of a great battle, an animal's dried bone laid amongst piles of diverse weaponry. It surely must've looked pretty out of place, lying beside the latest cutting edge technology for weapon metallurgy. It's like Samson was surrounded by a ton of sharp, flesh cutting tools. And yet, there's that bone. Discarded, no longer of any value, without a second thought. I think sometimes folks mistake David's precision sling skills with what God actually did. Or Noah's seamanship, or Moses's persuasive speech,... it wasn't them. I think was to make a point "Here, swing this short dull bone around, I got this. I'll go before you, I'll do all the heavy lifting!!"

You are not hidden, God sees you. And He actively searches you out. Owls hunt at night, many times in dense forests and shrubs. Man has no machine that can fly that efficiently, they do it with ease. Their wings have a soft surface area that disrupts airflow and absorb the sound that their flight would otherwise make.

The Devastating Army of the Iron Age
The Philistine war machine was a formidable powerhouse, in the days of Samson. Even with his amazing feats of strength, the Hebrews willingly handed Samson over to them, for fear of harsh retaliation. In a time where new iron weapon technology was jealously guarded, battles would surely be decided on who had more of that metal to wield. Confronting the Philistine horde meant facing a complete army of sharpened iron. Maybe this is why God picked this powerful people to oppose. Someone the Hebrews had zero chance against.

Sea Turtle, the Master Navigator
Some 80% of the ocean remains unexplored, this domain is home to the sea turtle. Sea turtles migrate huge distances through these waters, using the magnetic field like some kind of sci-fi compass. God made the ocean, every part of it. He also made the turtle. An air breathing reptile that spends most of its life submerged and yet it lives on. He prepared it all for the turtles to thrive in. How has God prepared for you?

Iron Weapons, Armor, and Chariots against the One God
Looking back on history, it's easy to assume that God's people would prevail against any foe, but at that time, I'm sure it wasn't that easy. They were better protected, had more advanced weapons, and no one could outrun a chariot, bristling with spears.
Now there was no smith to be found throughout all the land of Israel; for the Philistines said," The Hebrews must not make swords or spears for themselves"... 1 Samuel 13: 19.
The Hebrews literally relied on the Philistines for all of their metal tools. How do you defeat an enemy with all of the weapons? You don't. God will.

Inspired by David, a Tireless Missionary for Nepal
The red-shouldered hawk's entire body was designed to fly, and fly really well. There's a flying term called, "Kiting," that it employs. Kind of like when a kite pulls against the string and seems to be motionless, in the air. The hawk is one of only a few bird types, that can accomplish this feat. "...extends to the heavens." Betrayed by his own, Samson must have felt truly Alone.
I did my best to show the completely "Unwinnable" predicament, Samson was caught up in. Suggested by a military friend, I filled the air with projectiles, a "Rolling Barrage," prior to the main charge. The scriptures say the Philistines "Came shouting against him." In their triumph and bloodlust, I imagine the orders were to grind him to dust. But Samson was NOT alone.
